As you come down the mountains, you enter the Intermountain Region.
Behind you are the Rocky Mountains. Way over on the far side of this region, the Sierra Nevada rises. Here, however, is unlike any other place in the U.S. The land is drier and lower. It drops into deep canyons. Instead of rich greenery, you see land that is deep red, orange, or brown. It’s home to our country’s largest desert and some of its prettiest places.
