Wrong! You can go back. At least, you can visit a detailed reconstruction in the city of York, in northeastern England. There, you can travel back to Jorvik, the busy capital of a Viking kingdom. Ten thousand Vikings once lived there. Today, you can stroll through a rebuilt village and see the sights. You can hear sounds, smell scents, and touch things from a civilization long gone. You can even see townspeople buying, selling, working, talking, laughing, and playing.
