Deserts are dry places. Most deserts get fewer than ten inches of rain a year.
Some deserts are so dry that nothing can grow there. In other deserts, plants have ways to get the water they need. Some store water in their stems. That way they have water even when it doesn’t rain. Other plants have long roots. The roots grow deep below ground to get to water.
