The Caribbean, nestled in the tropics near the equator, is a place of extraordinary beauty and rich cultural heritage. Also known as the West Indies, the Caribbean comprises three main island groups: the Bahamas, the Greater Antilles, and the Lesser Antilles.
The region includes thousands of islands, islets, reefs, and cays (small islands formed from coral or sand). While some islets are so tiny that no one lives on them, others, like Cuba and Jamaica, are large.
A journey through these islands would expose travelers to different languages, including English, Spanish, Dutch, French, Haitian Creole, and Papiamento. That’s a blend of Portuguese, Spanish, and Creole languages.
