Mexico and Central America are home to majestic mountains, dense rain forests, winding rivers, and deep canyons.
And they’re particularly notable for their volcanic activity. Mexico alone contains more than 40 volcanoes, while Central America has an even greater concentration. Hundreds of volcanoes are situated along the fault line off Central America’s western coast. These form the Central American Volcanic Arc, which is part of the larger Pacific Ring of Fire. There are several active volcanoes in the region. From Colima in Mexico and Arenal in Costa Rica to Cerro Negro in Nicaragua. And from Izalco in El Salvador to Fuego in Guatemala.
