Imagine finding a buried treasure!
Treasures are everywhere. Gold, ceramics, statues, and minerals are sunk deep beneath the seas. Entire cities, diamonds, and fossils are hidden underground. Treasures are buried under the pyramids and hidden in caves. Treasures can even be found in your own backyard, attic, or neighborhood. They might be antique clothing, letters from great-grandparents, vintage photographs, coins, or stamps.
Treasures are always valuable to historians. A treasure gives them a special window into the civilization it came from. However, not all treasures are worth a lot of money. Some may be worth millions, but others only a few dollars. Still other treasures are so important that a price cannot be put on them. This unit of Kids Discover highlights some treasures that were made by humans. Then they were lost, either due to natural disasters or after being hidden on purpose. However, there are many, many more treasures still waiting to be found—perhaps by someone just like you!
