In the year 2050, will houses be domes, bubbles, or mile-high towers? Will they be space capsules spinning through the solar system? Will they be buried deep below ground?
No one knows for sure, but experts predict that future houses will have to be more energy-efficient as resources like oil, natural gas, and coal disappear. We also know that Earth’s population will continue to grow. By 2050, the total population of Earth may be more than 9.7 billion people, up from more than 7.5 billion now. In time, living space on our planet may become a very precious commodity. We might even have to start looking for housing somewhere else in this or other galaxies.
