In the year 2050, how and where will we live? Will our houses be domes or bubbles? Will they be towers stretching high into the clouds? Will we live in capsules spinning through space, or in burrows below the Earth’s surface?
No one knows, but experts say that in the future, houses will have to be more energy efficient, because we’re using up our oil, natural gas, and coal. Meanwhile, the population keeps growing. By 2050, the planet’s total population may be more than 9.7 billion people, up from more than 7.5 billion now. Space on our planet may become very precious. We might even have to start looking for housing on other planets – or in other galaxies!
