- from Shelter
In the year 2050, where will we live? Will houses be domes, bubbles, or mile-high towers? Will they be capsules spinning through space? Will they be burrows deep below the Earth’s surface?
No one knows, but experts say that in the future, houses will have to be more energy efficient. Resources like oil, natural gas, and coal are running out. Meanwhile, Earth’s population keeps growing. By 2050, the planet’s total population may be more than 9.7 billion people. It’s more than 7.5 billion now. Living space on our planet may become very precious. We might even have to start looking for shelter on other planets – or in other galaxies!
