On March 11, 2006, a tornado descended on the St. Mary, Missouri, home of Rick Boland. “I was looking at my feet, and the floor was doing a wave-type thing,” said Boland.
“I couldn’t keep my balance. The power went out and it was pitch black. I heard windows blowing out, stuff smacking. It was like a big tidal wave hit the house.” Then the twister picked up Boland and his son, spun them around briefly, and deposited them 100 yards from their house. Both were badly hurt, but they were lucky to be alive.
