On March 11, 2006, a tornado bore down on the St. Mary, Missouri, home of Rick Boland. “I was looking at my feet, and the floor was doing a wave-type thing,” Boland said.
“I couldn’t keep my balance. The power went out and it was pitch black. I heard windows blowing out, stuff smacking. It was like a big tidal wave hit the house.” Then the twister picked up Boland and his son and spun them around for a while. They landed 100 yards from their house. Both were badly hurt but lucky to be alive.
