Elephants in a desert? There are some, but only in the Namib and on the western fringes of the Sahara.
Desert elephants have huge feet and long legs, which help them in their long treks. Unlike other elephants, desert elephants need to drink only every three to four days. They are experts at locating water holes by digging with their trunks – even if they haven’t been in an area for over a year!
