There are some elephants in the desert. But they are only found in the Namib and on the western edges of the Sahara.
Desert elephants have big feet and long legs to help them on their long treks. Unlike other elephants, they need to drink only every three to four days. They are great at finding water holes by digging with their trunks – even if they haven’t been in a place for over a year!
