- from Oceans
A long, long time ago, people who sailed the uncharted seas took their lives in their hands. That was before all the continents had been found, before all the oceans had been explored, and before science made deep-sea research possible.
Those lucky enough to return home told tales of newfound lands. They also found shorter sea routes and plenty of exotic goods. They told stories of sea monsters and dragons.
Where did these stories come from? Throughout history, people have created myths and legends to help explain the seemingly inexplicable: How did that island disappear? What caused the ocean to become so treacherous? Who or what capsized that ship?
To this day, many mysteries remain about the seas—mysteries guarded by often wild and perilous, cold and dark, untamable waters.
