In the 1700s Europeans arrived and brought great changes – horses, guns, and diseases.
They squabbled over territory – who wanted it, who claimed it, who had the rights to it. None considered the rights of the people already living there. In these early years, Indigenous peoples may have benefited from their contact with the Europeans, but they ended up paying a high price for it.
