Crossword:
Montana
Montana – a place of unique natural phenomena. Where water splits east and west, and sometimes north, along the Continental Divide. Where glaciers still hug the surface of the land. Where geysers gush from deep inside the Earth. And where mountains with the highest peaks reach for the sky. This is Big Sky Country.
Here, you’ll enter a time capsule that carries you back to the end of the last ice age and the first peoples to inhabit our state and then shoots forward to pause at every major event from the 16th century to the present: European exploration, homesteading, gold, statehood, and beyond.
Future naturalists will want to spend time among the amazing images and facts about our state’s landforms. Nascent archaeologists will enjoy dwelling among the artifacts of Montana’s Indigenous peoples, while fashion aficionados will want to explore how styles in Europe affected the history of our state. And history buffs will appreciate the many quotations and historic images that breathe life into past events along with the leading role Montana played in women’s suffrage. Future travelers will want to plot their own itinerary as they discover the many attractions in our state, from Pompeys Pillar – the only physical evidence left of the Lewis and Clark Expedition – to the Helena skyline. Curious about our state and tribal governments and about our leading role in protecting the environment? That’s here too! You’re invited to jump in.
