Some insects are vegetarians, and others eat meat.
Herbivores live off plants. They might chew leaves, suck sap, or eat roots. Most are very picky, so they eat just one type of plant. Carnivores live off other animals and even other insects. Some species have very special diets. For instance, some termites only eat wood, and dung beetles grow in animal droppings. Parasites grow on or in other creatures. Sometimes a parasite even kills its host. But for us, blood feeders are the biggest threat. They can spread diseases by carrying them from one victim to the next.
