Like humans, some insects are vegetarians and others eat meat.
Herbivores feed on plants. They might chew leaves, suck sap, or eat roots. Most insect herbivores are very picky. They’ll eat just one type of plant. Carnivores feed on other animals and often other insects. Some species have very special diets, like the termites that eat wood or dung beetles that grow in animal droppings. Parasites grow on or within another creature, often killing it. But blood feeders are the most dangerous to people. They can spread diseases by bringing them from one victim to the next.
