There is no single reason why ice ages begin or end. Many factors can cause the Earth to warm or to cool.
Most of them have to do with small changes in the atmosphere, ocean currents, the position of large landmasses, and Earth’s position in relation to the Sun. Together, slight shifts or changes that occur naturally over thousands of years can put Earth into a deep freeze.
