Why do ice ages begin or end? There isn’t just one reason. Many things can make the Earth get warmer or cooler.
Most have to do with small changes in the atmosphere, ocean currents, and the position of large landmasses. Even Earth’s position in relation to the Sun can affect its temperature. Together, slight shifts or changes that occur naturally over thousands of years can put Earth into a deep freeze.
