Do you go shopping? Have you ever made lemonade and sold it at a stand? If so, you are part of our country’s economy.
The economy is all about making, selling, and buying things. It’s about how people use what they have to get what they need.
In the United States, people can make and sell almost anything they want. They can start almost any business they want. The government makes very few rules for businesses. This is called a free market economy. It’s also called a free enterprise economy. But the government does need to make some rules. For example, businesses can’t sell dangerous things. They must keep their workers safe, and they must not cause too much pollution.
