Do you go shopping? Have you ever made lemonade or something else and sold it at a stand? If so, you are participating in our country’s economy.
The economy is all the producing, selling, and buying that people do. It is all the ways that people use resources to meet their needs. In the United States, people can make, sell, and buy almost anything they want to. They can start almost any business they want to. The government makes as few rules as possible for businesses. This is called a free market economy. It is also called a free enterprise economy. Of course, the government must make some rules for businesses. For example, businesses are not allowed to sell certain dangerous products, they must provide a safe workplace, and they must limit the pollution they might cause.
