How Americans Live
How Americans Live is an essential primer for all young Americans. Every screen is filled with vital information about what it is to live in America: From key highlights of our history to our national symbols to how we use our land.
From the role Americans play in governing and caring for our country to how our economy works, including the concept of supply and demand, the difference between goods and services, and the role government regulations play in protecting workers as well as the environment. Images and examples are drawn from all geographic regions, enabling kids to see both themselves and others within our American world.
Future cartographers will have fun unpacking all the information embedded in a large, clear map of the U.S. Kids intrigued by our past will want to spend time examining the many historic images, including those of early settlers, the first farms, and immigrants arriving on our shores. At the same time, kids with an artistic bent will appreciate fine-art paintings that depict historic scenes, such as those of the first immigrants from Asia and enslaved people from Africa. City kids will be intrigued by images of a contemporary farm and jobs connected to harvesting our natural resources, while all kids will be fascinated by images of life outside their personal experience. All this and more make How Americans Live an essential read.
