A forest is full of trees – and much, much more.
Forests also have bushes and wildflowers. Vines climb up some trees. Moss grows on logs on the forest floor and on trees. Animals live in forests. So do people.
Life on Earth would not exist without forests. Trees give off the oxygen that we breathe. Their roots keep soil from washing away when it rains hard. People get many useful things from forests. Trees give us fruits and nuts to eat. They give us maple syrup and sugar. Trees give us wood for building houses.
