Spring, summer, fall, and winter are the four seasons. What are they like where you live?
In temperate areas, summer is hot. Winter is cold and often snowy. Spring and fall are in between.
In a temperate forest, some trees lose their leaves in the fall. These are called deciduous (dee-SI-joo-us) trees. Hickory, maple, and oak are three kinds of deciduous trees. Other trees stay green all year long. These are called evergreen trees. Some temperate forests have all deciduous trees. Some have all evergreens. Most have both.
