Bicycles are always improving. Today, cyclists can buy bikes with computerized gears that shift automatically, like cars.
They can also buy electric bikes, or e-bikes, which can be powered by pedals, or with the assistance of a rechargeable electric motor. However, no matter how cool bikes get, the U.S. is a car culture. Many cities and towns are so car-oriented that it’s no fun riding a bike. In others, though, drivers of two-wheelers and four-wheelers are learning to strike a balance.
