There are more than a million different kinds, in every shape, size, and color. Most have two pairs of wings and one pair of antennae. They have compound eyes, sometimes made up of thousands of tiny six-sided eyes. Insect bodies have skeletons on the outside, not the inside.
But what’s the best way to identify an insect? Start counting! All insects have six legs and three body parts: head, thorax, and abdomen.
