The Trojan War may or may not have really happened. But it is one of the best-known stories of ancient Greece. It is thought to have taken place in the thirteenth century B.C. That’s long before Greek civilization reached its height.
Near the end of the war, the Greeks had a plan to conquer a city-state called Troy. They built a huge wooden horse on wheels and left it outside the city wall. Then they sailed away. The Trojans thought the horse would bring good luck. So they took it into the city, past all their defenses.
