The Boundary Waters is a huge wilderness area. It is in the Upper Midwest. It stretches 150 miles along the border between Minnesota and Canada.
On the Canadian side, people call it the Quetico. In the United States, the Boundary Waters covers more than a million acres of land. It is part of the Superior National Forest. Many animals live here. They include ducks, loons, moose, elk, bald eagles, and bears.
The full name is the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW). There are more than 1,100 lakes here. Motorboats are not allowed. About 250,000 people come here each year. They come to canoe and camp. Some people stay for just one day. Others stay for a week, a month, or even longer. The Boy Scouts of America have a camp near this area.
