Can you guess what “storm chasers” do?
You guessed it: they chase storms. They take time off from work to listen to weather forecasts and watch the skies in hopes of predicting storms and tornadoes. When they think conditions are good for a tornado, they get in their vehicles and drive, trying to reach the storm before it develops.
Why would anyone want to chase a storm? Some do it for the sake of science—chasers offer weather scientists valuable information such as close-up pictures and videos of storms. Some do it for public safety, so they can warn people about tornadoes and maybe save lives. And of course, some just do it for the sheer thrill of the chase.
No matter why they do it, all chasers share one thing. They respect tornadoes, which are awesome, unpredictable, and unique.
