Things – and people – are not always as they seem. Take Monticello, for example.
Visiting the sight today, you’d find a magnificent main house. The house is at the top of a large hill. It has perfectly maintained grounds. It is surrounded by thousands of acres of land fit for farming. A grand sight, indeed. Its owner was Thomas Jefferson, our third president. The brilliant author of our Declaration of Independence. The person who wrote the words “all men are created equal.” The individual who said slavery was a moral evil.
