Things – and people – are not always as they seem. Take Monticello, for example.
Visiting the sight today, you’d find a magnificent main house at the top of a large hill with perfectly maintained grounds. The house is surrounded by thousands of acres of land suitable for farming. A grand sight, indeed. Its owner was Thomas Jefferson, our third president. The brilliant author of our Declaration of Independence. The person who penned the words “all men are created equal.” The individual who declared slavery to be a moral evil.
