It’s after dinner on a school night, and your dad is watching the news while you sit in your favorite chair, reading a comic book.
But your fun keeps getting interrupted by yelling and explosions on the TV. The news is full of angry people and alarming situations, and you start to feel afraid.
Your dad sees your face and turns off the TV. He asks what’s wrong, and you tell him everything seems really scary right now. He gets up and hugs you, saying, “Don’t worry about those bad things on the news. There’s always hope, and things can always get better.”
You may have noticed that the 21st century can be a complicated and even dangerous time. It’s true that people have a lot of challenges to deal with in the modern world. However, we are also better equipped than ever to face – and solve – those problems.
