Living in the Rain Forest

There’s no electricity, hot water, plumbing, phones, refrigeration, or grocery stores. It’s a jungle out there!

Think you could live in it? Thousands of tropical forest natives do so, and quite successfully, too. So how do they do it?

Rain forest peoples don’t have modern luxuries and conveniences. They have only the raw materials from the forest itself. They use these to make shelter, clothing, and tools. The jungle also provides food and transportation. Over many centuries, rain forest natives have learned to use the forest to meet all their needs. Their clever creations show us that necessity truly is the mother of invention.
