Egyptians believed they would follow this life with another one that lasted forever, but they also enjoyed life on Earth.
Noblemen and their wives lived in large, impressive houses. They enjoyed dressing up and even wearing wigs. Women applied plenty of jewelry, perfume, and makeup—especially eye paints.
Most people wore clothes that were made out of linen. Men wore loincloths or kilts, and they also wore shirts that were a lot like our T-shirts. Women dressed up in shawls and ankle-length dresses made of very thin material.
Children did not wear any clothes, and their heads were shaved so that only one side-lock of hair remained!
Most Egyptians worked for the government, which paid them with food, clothing, and a place to live.
Pets were very popular in ancient Egypt, especially cats, dogs, and monkeys!
