Egyptians enjoyed life on Earth, even though they were planning for the life of forever.
Noblemen and their wives lived in large, impressive houses. They enjoyed dressing up and wearing wigs. Women wore lots of jewelry, perfume, and makeup—especially eye paints.
Most people wore linen clothes. Men wore loincloths or kilts, and they also wore shirts that were a lot like our T-shirts. Women wore shawls and sheer ankle-length dresses.
Children wore no clothes, and their shaved heads had just one side-lock of hair!
Most Egyptians worked for the government and were paid with food, clothing, and housing.
Many people in ancient Egypt kept domestic pets. Among the most popular animals were monkeys, cats, and dogs.
