Anyone who has lived through the 150-mile-per-hour winds and pounding rain of a raging hurricane has a deep respect for the ocean. And probably a healthy fear of it, too.
The ocean can be cruel. It is where some of the world’s most dramatic weather begins.
But the oceans give us a lot more than harsh weather. They help spread the Sun’s warmth around the globe. That makes Earth a good place for creatures in the sea and on the land.
