Many of his ideals came from books he read as a child. Books about Washington, Jefferson, and other leaders. They created “a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.” It is for those ideals—learned by the boy, practiced by the man—that Abraham Lincoln is admired today.
