Many kings and queens spent their royal treasuries on jewels, decorative thrones, crowns of gold, and other luxuries. Some even built huge palaces. But perhaps the most impressive examples of royal luxury aren’t homes for the living. They’re homes for the dead.
Egypt’s mighty pyramids are royal tombs. Many gravesites of Chinese emperors, Mayan rulers, and Indian ranis and rajas (queens and kings) are just as impressive.
