The Incas expanded their empire through war, diplomacy, and threats of violence. They knew how to keep what became theirs.
They were good organizers, ruling one of the best-run empires in history. They kept a strong hold on their subjects without telephones, cars, or even a way to write a letter! In a hundred years, they conquered millions of people whose languages and customs were very different from their own. All of those people became a part of the Inca empire. Officials worked together to spread Inca religion, laws, and language across the land. That’s how they created a united empire.
