The Incas expanded their empire through war. But they also used diplomacy and threats of violence. They knew how to keep what became theirs.
The Incas were good organizers and ruled one of the best-run empires in history. They kept a strong hold on their subjects. All without telephones, cars, or even a way to write a letter! They conquered millions of people in a hundred years. These people’s languages and customs were very different from the Incas’ own. But they all became a part of the empire. Officials worked together to spread Inca religion, laws, and language. That’s how the Incas united an empire.
