- from Ice Age
When the Ice Age began, some animals could not get used to the cold. They died out. Many large mammals did well in the cold. We call these megafauna.
Mammals are warm-blooded animals. That means their body temperature stays fairly high and doesn’t change, no matter what it’s like outside. Most mammals have fur or some hair. Over thousands of years, many of us—yes, you’re a mammal, too!—found new ways to live in the harsh climate.
