How do we know what Ice Age mammals looked like? There are no photos or descriptions. The mammals died out before humans started writing things down. Most of what we know comes from fossil bones and skulls that are tens of thousands of years old.
Many come from Siberia. That’s one of the coldest parts of Russia. As ground thawed out, landslides and muddy swamps trapped many mammoths. Then they would freeze. Mammoth remains have been found in China, Canada, Alaska, and other parts of the U.S.
