No two hurricanes are alike. Some move in a straight line, others curve and turn, and others even make loops.
Air current and air pressure affect the paths that storms take. In some ways, Hurricane Hugo was like other hurricanes, but in other ways it was a lot different. Hurricanes usually weaken quickly as they hit land, but Hugo took its time. This monster storm was still going strong 175 miles from the ocean. Hugo had an eye that was 30 miles across! Let’s step back to September 10, 1989.
