To get some perspective on Earth, imagine flying straight up. After about four miles, you leave the part of the atmosphere in which you can breathe.
Switch on your life-support and continue a bit farther, past the Moon, which helps control our tides. Keep going and you get to the Sun, our planet’s energy source. Keep going even farther and you see that our Sun is just one of billions of stars in the Milky Way galaxy, which, in turn, is like a grain of sand on a beach called the universe.
