Our Watery World

Life would not exist without water.

On Earth, water is found in all three states—liquid, solid, and gas. As a liquid, it covers most of Earth, with an average depth of two miles in the oceans. As a solid, water blankets the North and South Poles in ice. And as a gas, it forms clouds and has major effects on the weather.
