- from Birds
“Eats like a bird” is an old expression. It means someone is a light eater.
Whoever came up with it didn’t know birds. They eat a lot, partly because flying takes so much energy. A baby warbler can eat nearly its own weight in insects each day. Every species has its own diet. But as a group, birds will eat just about anything. That includes berries, nuts, insects, fish, small animals, and even other birds.
