Ancient Egypt existed from about 3100 BCE through 31 BCE in northern Africa. You probably already know about its pyramids! However, this civilization is important for more than just what it built.
Ancient Egyptians were ruled by a king or queen, called a pharaoh (FAIR-oh). Life centered around the Nile River, which provided water for drinking and growing crops.
