By the time you get on the plane after your show about the Midwest, you feel like an ice cube. You have one more episode to host before you can go home and take a break.
You’re prepared for the worst. But when you arrive at your next destination, it’s way too hot for all that snow gear! Outside, the sun has turned the sidewalk into one big, bright griddle. Wildflowers are blooming, and so are the cacti. So this is what winter’s like in the Southwest!
You’re going to start this episode by the rim, or edge, of the Grand Canyon. On the way there, you notice that people don’t waste water. Once you leave the city, the landscape is dry and brown. Creosote bushes and ocotillo plants line the dusty roads. You can see that the lizards and birds have adapted to the absence of rain.
