Think all tornadoes are the same? Think again.
Some are pitch black, filled with flying dirt and debris. Others are red, from the color of the clay in Oklahoma. Others are bright white, reflecting the Sun off water particles. Some zoom along at 70 mph, while others barely move, spinning over one point. Some sway from side to side. Others move ahead, curving left or right. Some have a funnel that’s just one vortex, while other funnels contain many vortexes. Some are 15 yards across, and others are 500 yards wide. Some start and end in minutes, while others last an hour or more.
No matter how they look, most tornadoes go through five stages.
